  • Bumper cracked in a minor bump, repair or replace, how do I decide?

Had a small bump in traffic last week, nothing serious, no injuries, but my front bumper now has a crack running along one side and the clips seem to have popped out slightly so there’s a small gap where it meets the fender. The car drives perfectly fine and the sensors all still work, so it’s purely cosmetic, but I can’t stand looking at it. I’ve had two opinions so far and they conflict, one says it can be plastic welded and refinished no problem, the other says once the mounting points are stressed it’s better to replace the whole bumper. The quotes are wildly different as a result. I came across zenfoautoservices.ae/auto-body-shop-abu-dhabi while trying to understand how shops decide between repair and replacement, and it seems like the honest answer depends on things I can’t judge myself. My questions are whether a repaired bumper can ever be as strong as before, how to tell if the mounting points are actually damaged, and whether repairing is a false economy if it fails later. Also does a repaired bumper affect resale or show up on any inspection?
