The presentation promises brand-new gameplay footage and previously undisclosed details for Resident Evil Requiem, the ninth mainline entry in the long-running survival horror series. The showcase follows earlier teasers and a brief reveal trailer, but this event marks the first comprehensive gameplay presentation for the title. As the series approaches its 30th anniversary, Resident Evil Requiem aims to blend the action-oriented style of recent entries with the survival horror roots that defined the franchise.

Playable Protagonists

Resident Evil Requiem stars Grace Ashcroft, a newcomer to the series, alongside veteran agent Leon S. Kennedy. Each character offers a distinctly different gameplay experience that reflects two sides of the franchise’s identity. Capcom describes Leon’s segments as “exhilarating, death-defying action,” evoking the over-the-top combat of Resident Evil 4 and 6, while Grace’s portions are framed as “spine-tingling survival horror,” reminiscent of the tense exploration and resource management of the original games. Much of Leon’s role has already been shown in previous trailers, so the January event may provide a deeper look at his action-heavy sequences and potentially reveal more of Grace’s horror-focused experience. This dual approach marks a deliberate effort to cater to both action fans and traditional survival horror enthusiasts within a single campaign, a first for the mainline series.
